Marshall was a
landscape photographer for twenty-three years, during which time
he had the privilege of being Ansel Adams’ workshop assistant for
a short period of time, an experience that profoundly affected his
life. After years of viewing the landscape through black and white
photos, Marshall's spirit longed to express the beautiful
environment in which he lived with as much color as possible.
Black and white gave way to gold, red, azure, purple, and kelly
green.
Marshall says, “I
experience a deep sigh of relief when I start a painting. This is
what I love to do. I paint for creative expression and for the
simple joy of it.”
