Sharon Weiser

Sharon Weiser, who grew up in Wisconsin, began painting as a child and went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts and K-12 teaching certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She taught in the Art and Design Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout for two years and for the past 25 years has conducted classes and workshops in Wisconsin, Arizona and New Mexico.

For her joyfully close-up cactus compositions, painted in either oils or acrylics, Weiser works primarily from her own photos, cropping, replacing, repositioning or enlarging forms to expertly compose her dynamic light-filled canvases. It is her unique and complex compositions that not only capture her artistic devotion and expertise but capture the accolades of clients and critics alike; Weiser has won many awards including those from American Artist and The Artist's magazines.

It is bold colors, a remarkable attention to detail and singular sense of design that makes Weiser's paintings stand apart. And her artwork continues to evolve as her curiosity compels her to keep experimenting with different color palettes, subjects and ideas.

"In my hobby stage of painting, the question was ‘what should I paint?'" Weiser recalls. "When I discovered that an artist paints light as it falls over form, the question became ‘how can I ever, in my lifetime, paint all that exists, all that I now see?' Yes, it's still fun, but so much more."

Weiser is a juried member of the Arizona Artists Guild, Sonoran Arts League and the Scottsdale [AZ] Artists League.
