Brian Miller is a multi-faceted artist whose personality clearly expresses itself in his art with crisp colors, interesting textures, unique forms and strong compositions. Preferring not to limit his creative expression, he works in such varied mediums as sculpture, collage, acrylic on canvas and cast paper.
 
When asked how he creates his cast paper pieces, Miller explains that each piece is created by casting 100% cotton paper on molds that he makes in his studio. Once the platter shape is dry, it is primed with gesso; Miller then he determines the composition. Color is added in the form of acrylic pigments, oil paints, metallic inks and powders, as well as gold, copper, silver and variegated composition metal leaf. The iridescent and metallic paints add depth; hand-made mosaic tiles add texture and the imported gold leaf add richness. Accent lines are created using composition gold leafing. The last step in this labor-intensive process is to apply multiple coats of epoxy resin. This protective coating not only adds stability but also creates a glass-like appearance.
